Benefits of Laser Hair Removal

Lasers are the best way to get rid of unwanted hair on the face, legs, arms, underarm, bikini and many other areas. Lasers are precise, and are able to target any kind of hair, dark or light, coarse or fine, and everything in between! The best part is that the laser leaves the skin undamaged, with little discomfort.

Lasers are also fast and treatments take little time out of the day. Each pulse of the laser can treat many hairs at a time, which means large areas, such as the back or legs, can be done in a single session.

Best of all, its’ permanent! After a couple of sessions on a specific area, patients begin to experience hair loss in the treated area, and soon will be hair free.

Preparing for Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is more than just applying a laser to unwanted hair. There’s a lot that goes into completing a hair removal procedure. You can be confident in knowing the professionals at CLHR will take good care of your hair removal needs.

If you are planning on getting laser hair removal done, you should try to limit any plucking, waxing or other hair removal techniques for up to six weeks before treatment. This is because the lasers target the roots of the hair, which is temporarily removed by waxing or plucking.

Additionally, avoid sun exposure for six weeks before and after treatment, which is why it’s a good idea to get laser hair removal done now! Sun exposure makes laser hair removal less effective, and can add complications after treatment more likely.

During the Procedure

Just before your treatment, your hair will be trimmed to a few millimeters above the skin line. The laser equipment will be adjusted according to your skin color, the thickness of the hair, and the location of the hair.

Before the laser is applied, the technician will apply a cold gel or special cooling device. This helps the laser penetrate the skin. While the laser is being used, both you and the tech will wear protective eyewear.

After the procedure, you may be given ice packs, anti-inflammatory cream or lotion to ease any discomfort. You may wish to plan your next treatment in the following six weeks, which you’ll repeat until the hair stops growing.

After the Procedure

Your skin may feel like it’s sunburnt after a laser hair removal procedure. Cool compresses and moisturizers help to ease this. If the face was treated, you may wear makeup over the skin after 24 from the treatment, unless the skin is blistering.

Over the next couple weeks, the treated hair will fall out. Wear sunscreen when going outside to prevent temporary changes in the color of treated skin.

Blisters are very rare, but may occur with people who have darker skin. Other potential side effects are some swelling, redness or irritation.
